The Path To Adventureland

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

One of the hard things about making a career switch is finding your direction. You spend your first decade with people asking what you want to be when you grow up, encouraging you to dream big. The second decade is spent being guided through practical plans and directions.

It all misses one little detail, it’s okay for dreams to change and grow. There is no way to know in your teenage years what’s the best choice for the rest of your life. People grow and change, the world changes, and in life, there are opportunities we never anticipated.

A few weeks ago, I was able to enroll in Professional Certificate in Coding program, a women’s cohort through MIT xPRO.

If you would have asked me a year ago if I would want to learn to code, I would have told you ‘not likely’. If you asked me five years ago, I’d have told you ‘absolutely not’.

But I’ve had opportunities and I’ve taken them. Not always happily – sometimes full of fear of failure and sometimes in utter defiance – but I’ve taken them.

I have to say, I go into this new adventure consumed with nerves and excitement. I can’t guarantee my success. I don’t know where it’s going to lead me. It’s a large financial and time investment in myself and there is no guarantee at the other end.

What is there? Opportunity

and…

Opportunity is an endless adventure.
